Broughton Bay

Back to location finder

General details:

A long way away for most, situated right at the western end of the Gower. And for windsurfing, probably not worth the effort unless you're local: At low tide, the sea's a very long way away; at HW, it's a bit sheltered from SW wind, it gets very rough & there's a very strong current. You have to lug your kit over the dunes, too!

Rolling swells (easy slow waves).

It can get very rough here, especially in strong W winds.

Anon contributor (Aug 2006):
Don't bother - there are better beaches with far easier access. Presently access is 300m to dunes followed by 50m through dunes and further 300m at low tide to water!

How the winds work:

SW - when the tide's fairly low, otherwise can be a bit sheltered

W - NW - pretty onshore.
