WSM 11/08/11

Sounds like I missed a good one yesterday, damn work, but had a reasonable one today thanks to flexi-time. In fact looking at the forums it seems I have missed a few good sessions, probably because I haven't really been watching the wind much since starting training for the Bristol half marathon. St...

No heat wave or sun but Weston still delivered Sat 25th Jun

Supposed to be the start of a short heat wave moving in and as the forecast said sun (on Thursday anyway) and Westerlies it was looking good for a Weston thermal session. Got to the beach and nothing; people already on the water not getting anywhere at all really, except one guy with what must have ...

Dorset Echo coverage of Lea's challenge. http://www.dorsetecho.co.uk/news/9078926.Weymouth_teacher_windsurfs_1_000_miles_for_charity/ It will be an impressive achievement when he gets to 1000NM. I just wish I had as much opportunity to get out on the water myself. But then I may just get that wish i...

A few pictures from grabbed frames from some video that my wife did on 31st May at WSM. The video itself was wobbling all over the place - she needs more practice - made excuses about the wind blowing her off balance #-o . https://picasaweb.google.com/118194227783310719283/Windsurfing?authkey=Gv1sRg...

Never been to Llandegfedd and with a demo day as well could be a good opportunity to try it out after 3 sessions of pummelling in the brown lumpy stuff last weekend. Also with demo kit available maybe it wouldn't matter too much about me awaiting the repair of my 6.2 or the need of a new mast for my...

haha, I must admit I have never taken much notice of the altitude whilst windsurfing. It's useful for running or cycling, but I don't know if the GPS sampling rate or however it works would register a jump like that even if were possible. It is quite an old gps which I bought originally for running ...

Portland Pirate 1000NM challenge for BHF

Thought you might be interested in reading this blog from one of the Portland Pirates, Lea Spencer, who is doing a challenge of windsurfing 1000NM in one year to raise money for the British Heart Foundation. I have not met him yet; I only got to know about his challenge through another windsurfer on...

I need to go to Weston at about half four anyway, so will probably take my kit just in case.

Oh and I should thank the Queen for the day off :)

Late bank holiday sunshine delivers wind to Weston

The Saturday just gone, I looked at the forecast and because my favourite and most used sail (6.25m Tushingham Storm) is in need of repair (from the session on 14th May), the choice was 7m or 5.5m, so packed 1 sail (5.5m Storm) and 1 board (106Ltr JP Super X) based on the fact that the forecas...
