Bristol Nomads Windsurfing Club and website closing down

Following several years of declining activity, and difficulty finding people with the time and energy to continue running the club, the committee decided in May 2023 that the club will formally close. The website and these forums will therefore be shut down when the current website hosting period en...

Wot's happenin'?

Well, not a lot being going on over here for the last few years since everyone started to use Facebook. Whilst FB is good for some time-limited things ("What's happening on the beach right now?" "Who's going where tomorrow?" and so on), that have no real value in the future, It's...

Wait no longer: There is no attachment to this post. It is detached.

Does this work? Can anyone not see the detachment?

Should now be fixed - following protracted email exchanges with McAfee. They still couldn't tell me why it was listed as a security risk.

Re: Bristol Repairs

No repairers in Bristol any more, I'm afraid.

I've heard that Jim Brooks-Dowsett of Puravida (https://www.facebook.com/jim.brooksdowsett) does good repairs. He's over in Cardiff, though.

Re: Wetsuits?

I have, of course, made a fundamental error in assuming that copious quantities of beer would act as an excellent means of lubrication. Other than lubricating the tongue, it has seemed to have an adverse effect on the wetsuit fitting arrangement. KY would - as you suggest - probably work up to a poi...

Re: Nice easy mountainbiking

Only problem they are rather expensive Another problem: They're very heavy. The weight also increases in proportion to the height when you have to lift the bike over a fence/gate/stile. And - still on the theme of extreme - this just in... https://www.facebook.com/benmooreracing/videos/107309480604...

Wetsuits?

There, I said it. Wetsuits. There's no question that I would benefit from a new (i.e. NOT 15 years old) winter wetsuit, that I bought immediately prior to the advent of stretchy Yamamoto neoprene. It has an "across the shoulder" zip, leading to the feeling of having a permanently inserted ...

Thanks Phil. Knee is improving well. Available time isn't. Nothing new there, I suppose. Hope you had a good evening.

Re: Social - Wed 8th Jul

True that it's foodie, but by 8pm on a Wed, most eaters will have finished. It's also a fairly big pub, so lots of seating + large garden. GWB beers have been rubbish for over a year now.

Social - Wed 8th Jul

I notice on the website Google calendar that the venue for this coming Wed has been changed from the New Inn, Mayshill to the Rising Sun, Frampton Cotterell. Whilst I was looking forward to going to the New Inn, I definitely won't be going to the Rising Sun. Is there a good reason for the late change?
