"A mountain biker dressed as Minnie Mouse was rescued by the Langdale and Ambleside mountain rescue team after breaking her leg. The woman was with a group that included Dennis the Menace and a sugar plum fairy" -Westmoreland Gazette

It makes us look like amateurs

Happy New Year Paul  I am keen to ride on Saturday. I have no particular destination in mind, although some will be muddier than others. The big but is my fitness, so I am probably only up to a moderate ride and pace. Something like Whytes and the black run would be ideal, (or Cwm Carn once/may...

I can endorse half of Martin's posting. The bit about The Wall. Unfortunately being seriously unfit meant that I felt as though I had hit the wall instead of going around it. I kept telling myself I would feel better the day after. But, with the benefit of hindsight, I am not convinced. It is just g...

Could the rumour be correct, that WW is selling a new type of foot saw? PS I seem to remember that tennis balls can be used to stretch straps or preventing them from crushing in transit. But, better still, I am sure WW have a secret fix. PPS Thick winter booties can be a handicap. PPPS You wil...

Most impressive 8) . I had expected a posting from the sunny side, so it is great to see someone other than Kelvin is equally hardy. As an alternative to Ian's suggestion, using the screw holes closest together can make access to the straps easier (it makes the straps bulge). I sometimes have to wag...

A great summary by Martin for a good, if somewhat chilly, ride. It seems that the FOD is at its very best when frozen or baked dry. It was also good to find that the bulldozers have not moved in yet. As mentioned by Martin, we even found a new toy for Ian and Steve to play on. There's a ramp onto th...

Our ride on NYD has left me feeling hungry for more. As mentioned, I have family commitments on Saturday. Ian K is now up for trying the Black run plus the short/medium Skyline at Glyncorrwg on Sunday, even if he is not aware of it at the moment. He will be on his third MB ride. My preferred p...

Ian K and I tacked the Wall on a wonderfully crisp New Years day, although a tad chilly at -1.5c. However, it did warm up to a balmy 0.0c by the end. My fingers started frozen but warmed up as came out of the breeze and hit the steeper section of the forest trail. My feet, on the hand (excuse the pu...

Can't do Saturday and I will need to reserve my judgement about Sunday until after the Afan ride.

Excellent timing Ian. You should catch us up towards the end of the ride.

Failing that, I did think about doing Penhydd first, but I am not sure how I will feel on the day.

Unfortunately Ian K is keen to make an early start. Goodness only knows why

Happy New Year everyone

Afan on NYD

I am suffering from the lurgy at the moment, however Ian K and I have a cunning little plan to burn it off by riding the Wall on New Years Day. We hope to arrive at about 10.30 'ish for a 11 am start.

This is going to be a slow one.....

Looks very good, aside from the artic temperature :(

A lot better than Wendy-fire-burns

Congratulation to all those who have made it possible

Do we have any information on which directions are likely to be the most/least accurate?
