Pre-social bike ride round Ashton Court - Thur 23rd

If you fancy a thirst-inducing blast on a mountain bike around Ashton Court before the social at The Angel, then try to meet up at the lower car park here, at about 17:45 to 18:00.

If you fancy joining me, please post on here, or text/call me on 07 eight 1 three 6 oh four 248.

Grafham Water is where I learnt to windsurf and I sailed there for 4 years back in 1981-5. A good piece of water, though the prevailing wind is cross-off at the clubhouse.

Hope the wind blows for you.

If you don't want to go so far (or for so long), Exmouth sea front is looking pretty good for Sat. The wind looks like it'll be perfectly cross-shore at the mo. HW is 13:30. Don't be tempted to go out earlier as the wind & tide will be in the same direction until then. Chances are I may not make...

Never tried windsurfing on carpets myself, though Axminster ought to be amongst the best for doing so. Could end up with a few burn rashes though. Come to that, that could happen at the Mud Pond, too.

Hi Koops, and welcome. Take my advice with a health warning, as I am biassed against the "lake" in Trench Lane and - in particular - its owner. My knowledge of the place is also many years old, though I have no reason to believe that much has changed. The pond (aka Almondsbury Mud Pond) it...

Porthcawl, Sat May 26th

In a word (or two) - hard work. Fabulous warm, sunny weather. Dry as a bone, sand blowing everywhere. Reminded me of Fuerte. First sail since last October, very gusty, & I (stupidly) thought I'd play it safe by going out on the 112l Kode & 5.5m sail. Big mistake. The chop was so bad, I was b...

Tony Low, Nigel Poulton and myself are definitely on for Newton Beach tomorrow. Easterly F5-7 forecast. Should be epic. We're aiming to get there about 10:00.

Porthcawl is about the best beach round here for E - NE winds. I'll try to get over there on Sat. Could be that Nigel Poulton & Ian Kennedy could make the trip, too.

Plans for this Sunday (May 20th)??

Anyone at the pub last night? Any consensus about the worthiness of a trip to Porthcawl? Any other thoughts?
