Mid Week Ride - somewhere on the Ridgeway

Ok - Windsurfing it isn't. This is the mountain bikers splinter group for when the wind don't blow!

Any takers?

Evening negotiable. Let me know if interested and if so what night you can do.

I'm hopeful of joining you. Where exactly in Avebury are you starting from, or is it not that big a place?
Thanks

There is a small car park, somewhere near here. Avoid the big National Trust? car park as you come into Avebury as the gates shut early.
If found, please return to the pub.

It looks like we could be dodging the showers. Pity, as this evening looks glorious

Can't make this evening as packing for the weekend - off to Exmoor and then Dartmoor for some biking :D

Hope you have a good ride :)

Last night was a lovely night, we were out riding with an 'other' group and rode from Lacock over to Cherhill monument - ended up being quite a long evening ride (my new lights got a testing!). We cycled from our house at 6.15pm and came home four hours later!

Thanks Adrian, great ride. The rain even stopped for us and the sun came out :D

In the end only four of us on the ride - three 'green bottles' lost before the start, all due to work commitments (Steve, Viv & Ian) :(

In normal tradition for the ridgeway, the ruts managed to claim each of us in turn, although nothing major. Seeing Devizes was also an extra bonus, especially when we thought we were heading back to Avebury

Beer & crisps in the pub afterwards, wrapped the day up nicely :D

Planned ride was 20 miles actual 20.4 with a 9.4 average. In my true style they were not the actual miles that I had planned.........

Seems odd that with the level of on hand medical expertise I should be allowed to do the map reading when I cannot read with my glasses on  All I can say is that my plan to keep Morgans hill to our back would have worked if we had bee the right side of Morgans Hill

The best news is that Jackie was expecting me back early as the rain at home was so heavy so we rode the right area.

Thanks for the company and staying cheerful when Devizes was sighted!

Thanks Adrian, it was a fine evening for a ride in the end. Although the ground was very muddy in places, and the going quite tough through the long wet grass. First time for a while that I've been forcibly ejected from my bike! A rut on a downhill section caught me out, but I managed to scrub off most of the speed before being spat out the side and fortunately a fairly soft landing. My legs were quite shot by the end - could have done without the extra climb to take in the view over Devises!
