Sunday 20th

Post by NigelP »

Martin, myself, possibly Adrian, Rob, Vicky, and others are riding the Gap on Sunday.

Meet around 10ish in Talybont on Usk on the main street, here :

Abt 23 miles of weatherproof trails, cafe stop part way around, amazing descents, pub to finish and a comedy bridleway thrown in - you can't ask for much more!

My mobile is Oh794Oh 54Oh54Oh

The meeting place is fairly obvious: it is a short strip of road between the pub/s and the co-op/newsagents. I will leave my mobile switched on.

In the past we have stopped half way around, for a bite to eat at the tea shop.

Hope to see you there.

As the wind forecast now seems to have fizzled out, I quite fancy it too. Met Office forecast sun after the early fog lifts.

Matt,
Adrian, Martin and I are leaving from here at 8.45. Phone on the home line if you would like a lift share, although I suspect your preferred route will avoid the Severn Bridge.

A great days ride, but the wind could be bitter at times and although it was warm, you could still see some remnants of the snow in the distance.

Altogether there were 14 of us, which was quite a large group, with Kelvin and Rob being to be the fittest of the bunch.

As mentioned by Kelvin, there were no major mishaps, although Rob deserves a special mention as he was determined to maximise his score of full body dabs. There were limits, even for Rob, when he chickened out of one endo and he flopped to the side rather than completing the full loop. This did not stop him getting very very close to vertical at the peak of his act.

My record on the gap ride is a mixed one. Sometimes I get spooked on the downhill section and become too cautious, whereas other times I feel more comfortable. Today was a good day, so I finished on a high.

The only other activity of mention, were the numerous punctures. The larger group seemed to be a magnet for thorns: that, or the hedgehogs have been overly active this spring.

A great ride and thanks to Rob for organising it. :D :D :D

yep top marks to rob for spending most of the day at the back rounding up the strays , when really you want to be in front having a clean run at things .

Top Marks to the guy on the ragly hard tail he flew down that gap decent .

Nigel your decent of the gap looked ok - and i have the proof .

The wonders of the high speed camera.

There are some great photos and I would love a HD copy of this sequence.

You can even see Rob in the background, acting as sweeper.
