Ok - Windsurfing it isn't. This is the mountain bikers splinter group for when the wind don't blow!

Swinley Forest, Bracknell - Sun 25th Feb

Post by RaV »

We're planning a ride at Swinley Forest near Bracknell on Sunday 25th February, if anyone fancies joining us. The main aim for this is for those folk going to Spain to meet our friend, Chris who is coming on the trip too, but of course all will be welcome.

Plan is to meet 10.30 for an 11am start at the The Look Out Discovery Centre in Swinley forest. It's about 15mins off Jt 10 of the M4 and it pretty well signed, but here is the postcode to help find it: RG12 7QW

To ride at Swinley, you must purchase a day permit, price £1.50, and this goes towards maintenance of trails including purchase of specialist equipment and supplies. This is available from The Discovery Centre building. It is however free to park.

We were there last Saturday for the Shecycles ride and were shown some new sweet bits of singletrack, so hopefully we'll remember where they are! :D

Let us know if you're coming along.

We will be there also - hopefully I won't be too jet lagged or carrying too much weight after living on hotel food for the week!!

Just getting my excuses in early

Hi

WE hope to ride subject to getting the knobbly tires back on the folding MTB, yes the one that goes round corners and getting the old faithful Peugot Estate to start.

Thats my excuses in early, see you Sunday :D [/u]

Enjoy the ride. I hope to find somewhere a little closer to home.

Looking forward to hearing your report. Sounds as though there are some 'interesting' sections.

Great ride, a little wet and muddy in parts. We both really enjoyed ourselves but Nicky is a litlle battered and bruised so is reflecting on further MTB rides  .

New mud tyres worked really well ( they had to ) wish I'd used them on the SPAM challenge. Great facility, good cafe with fantastic stodgy cakes  Go Ape looked fun too

Thanks RaV for working out some great routes :D

We really enjoyed yesterday's ride - despite the rather wet and muddy conditions!
We'll have to take you back there when it's dry - it's sooo much faster then :D

Paul - hope Nicky isn't too battered and bruised and she will want to join us again sometime :)

Many thanks RaV for leading us astray round the woods. I'm sure we didn't do the place justice in the rain (& mud) so would be interested in another trip when the trails are a bit drier.

On Monday morning I managed to find a few bruises I didn't know I had - obviously missed them in the excitment of the tumble. Morale is, if while mounting your bike, you catch the back of your shorts on the front of the saddle, stop before you go down the next technical bit. Otherwise you will realise that having all your body weight forward as you go down a drop isn't a particularly wise idea . :-?

We managed to get round to my cousins with about 10 minutes spare before supper; just enough time to wipe the mud off my face. Perfect timing :-)
If found, please return to the pub.
