Hot MTB challenge, Vernham Dean, Sun 17th June

Ok - Windsurfing it isn't. This is the mountain bikers splinter group for when the wind don't blow!

Hot MTB challenge, Vernham Dean, Sun 17th June

Post by RaV »

Anyone fancy joining us for this one?

http://www.testvalleytour.com/hot_mtb.htm

Rob and I did this ride last year and was really well organised. No mass start, lots of ridgeway style riding plus some great singletrack.

Hope to see you there :D

Probably 50km but it looks like it might be windy in which case I will be forced to go windsurfing!

55 tough miles but a fantastic ride with a great route especially through Collingbourne woods which you get twice :P I was bedevilled with chain slip for most of the first 30 miles to which I added ghost shifting as i tried to index it out on the move. AT 30 miles you go back past the cars so I told Rob I would drop out but quickly realised it was a stiff link so i joined Paul to complete the final section.

Great ride :D

Stats 89.03 Km , 6 hrs riding time, avg speed 14.8 KPH max 52 KPH and 4904 cals burned , as Adrian said a tough ride.

Between us 4 punctures , a sticky chain link, poorly indexing gears fixed by Rob ( Thanks :) ) several nettle stings and numerous torq bars eaten.
