Nutrition - the answer?

Post by Al Donald »

Whilst I was on the internet doing some research, I came across a very useful website – Cycling Performance Tips: www.cptips.com/toc.htm It has everything you ever wanted to know about cycling, plus probably a few things you didn’t! Of particular interest to me is the plentiful information on nutrition for before, during and after a ride. It is now glaringly obvious to me that much of my problem on the longer rides stems from simply running out of energy! Also excessive exercise is an established cause of migraine in susceptible people. Mtbing is especially likely to cause this due to the particularly intensive bursts of activity eg over technical climbs etc. rather than the smooth power delivery of road riding.
I will be working out a proper nutrition programme, which will have to involve more frequent (albeit brief) stops to refuel. Other changes will be:
more careful hydration and use of isotonics,
taking care not to overheat & sweat too much,
avoiding well-known food triggers,
always wearing sunglasses in bright sunshine,
doing neck exercises,
oh, and taking it a bit easier on the climbs – that shouldn’t be too difficult!

Once again, sorry for “washing my dirty linen in public” so to speak. I must say I’m quite  by it now! Hopefully we can all learn something from this though.

I need to do some servicing on my bike now so it will be out of action for a couple of weeks anyway. I’m hopeful of tagging along for RaV’s ride on April 1st (no joke), even if I take a shortcut back at some point.

I wonder if I have the answer
Yet again not a NICE recomended treatment
BUT

A RED bike would help I am sure

I have noticed that I am a lot more tired and very sob now that I have
a BLUE bike.
10 yrs ago when I had a RED bike I found I was far less tired,
more dynamic and my neck was less painful

????????

Dro,

I agree that you are clearly onto something here as I have similar experience but I am suprised that a man with your medical knowledge can have made such a fundimental error. I am sure that it must be a typo clearly it is yellow bikes that are easier to pedal not red..........

Thanks for reply Adrian
reasonable assumption but I am afraid you have fallen into a
trap many amateur colour gurus fall into

YOUR BIKE HAS BEEN REPAINTED

If you could find your old yellow bike and scratch .
that sickly yellow paint off you would find shiny red

Hope that helps
