What Nomadic events are coming up. Also, if anyone's planning a non-Nomadically-arranged trip and/or looking for others to join in.

Ok, I need something to look forward to to get me through the week!
Anyone out next weekend?
Tides are a pain in most places but good in Poole.
Graham, what's Hamworthy like in a southeasterly? Worth a try?

Hi Rachael

... thought for a minute (from your post title) that you were being very keen, and organised, and giving us lots of notice for a trip for next autumn .. :D

Anyway, I see you mean this weekend :) . Yes, does appear to be some wind around. Whilst low tide at Portland for much of the day on Sat and Sun, it's not a mega low tide. I kinda think that if it stays over 60cm (which it does this weekend) it's do-able - still a little walk out, but once it gets below 50cm (and down to 10 -20 cm as it does sometimes) that's when I definitely give it a miss!

Keen for a different venue if something else works, though :D

Whoopsie, well interpreted Sue! Imagine the amount of faffing we could fit in if we started planning now for Sept 2012! :)
So yes despite wrong month and wrong dates, I'm on about the weekend.
Also got tide data wrong, I had looked at Portland not Portland Harbour tide which seems to make 20cm difference for some reason. Bonus!
The forecast has moved around too since I looked, going quite easterly now.
So all in all a total wrongfest. Never mind. Do you fancy coming out then? It will be nice to see you, it's been ages!

Hi Rach - easterly is spot on, so I'm definitely in if we end up with a day of that :P ( .... and not a pretend easterly, as happened a few weeks ago with that imposter SSE direction  ).

I suspect the forecasts will shift a little before the w/e - so I'm trying not to get tooo excited just yet!

I had a good sail at Hamworthy in a SE the day after camping after Portland last year. The island is to SE of the launch site but the best part of a mile away and you should be sailing away from its effects anyway. Ultimately it really depend where you are or how much S or E is in the wind. But potentially its good in my experience.

I'm not sure yet but I will see if I can get away this Sunday to Portland. The last sail of the year seems to be going back as I usually stop when the clocks change. The advantage of being a member, as other peoples postings keeps me thinking about getting out.

Wow - you mean I'm gonna have company? Yay! :D

I accidentally agreed months ago to meet some people mid afternoon Sunday in Bristol, so it will mean an early start for me too to get to Portland and back but I will do it - I discovered last week I can fit a day's windsurfing into a bargainous £3.20 4-hour parking session if I keep faffing to a minimum!

Which would give enough change from a fiver for a cup of hot chocolate but unfortunately the cafe was closed last week, it may be shut for the winter now so bring a flask!

I will aim to go via my folks in Dorset and be there by 9am.

PS thanks Graham for the feedback on Hamworthy but I'll go with the crowd - looking forward to a sociable one :D

Quite a crowd for Portland. I have cancelled my cycle ride for Sunday morning so I will be there. Might be 10am by the time I stop for a big fry up breakfast on the way.
