Le weekend - 4 / 5 July

What Nomadic events are coming up. Also, if anyone's planning a non-Nomadically-arranged trip and/or looking for others to join in.

Le weekend - 4 / 5 July

Post by Sue »

Anyone else checking out forecasts for a weekend sail?

Saturday looks as though there could be wind around - Sunday too, but Saturday marginally better at the moment?

I was wondering if the Knap would work?

Also Portland could be OK on Saturday - the tide is fairly low, but not until afternoon so there should be plenty of water in the morning and early afternoon.

Just some thoughts :)

Hi Sue

I agree, Knap or Portland looking promising for Saturday. Undecided which looks more likely for good wind :???:

Hi Justin and Lorraine

Where are you favouring for tomorrow?

I am thinking that Portland looks the best bet - also I have a hankering to go there , as I haven't been for ages! Low tide is at 2.00pm (ish) so could be a bit of a pain!

I am not convinced about lots of sun for Knap to bend it to SW, also the low tide is mid afternoon which is quite early.

Anyone else tempted? Ian H ? Any others? We are planning to have the Club's GPS with us tomorrow - to at least get the speed ladder off the ground this year, even if not record breaking speeds. Unfortunately the current King of Speed can't make it tomorrow to show us how it's done; maybe the Queen of Speed will provide the tips? :D

oops! I was just about to post the complete opposite - present Met Office forecast looking promising for a few hours 'Sea Breeze' midday to 3pm to coincide with the best tide state etc., Portland looking sunny but maybe a bit marginal to chance the drive(?). Still :???:

Am i to assume everyone is off to the Knapp as i can come out to play as well :)

Just looking at the Met office and XC weather Portland is looking slightly better but both are marginal.

Actually....on present forecast favouring Portland now  . Have to admit really fancy some sunny flat water blasting over clear blue water for a change. If forecast stays the same my vote now for Portland :D .

Portland is my preference too :D .
It is supposed to be windy first thing at Portland - so I'll check when I get up, and if it is windy there, then it should hold all day (fingers crossed!)

After a great day on the flat, blue water of Portland Harbour yesterday (I'll let someone else tell the tale - Sue? Ian?), in the mood for some lumpy brown stuff today. Hoping for an hour or two at WSM this evening (Sunday) from around 7pm 8) .
