Duck Gybe

Bear away on the approach for maximum speed.

Move the back hand as far as possible down the boom to enable you to over sheet the sail.

Drop the harness without upsetting board trim by briefly sheeting in.

Drop the body weight low.

Allow the board to settle, applying mast foot pressure by keeping low and hanging off the boom.

Move the back foot out of the strap and onto the leeward rail.

Initiate the carve, sheeting in hard and pulling down on the boom with the front hand to keep mast foot pressure.

Keep carving hard. Shortly before downwind as the sail starts to feel light in your hands, throw the rig forward towards the nose and release the front hand.

Catch the very end of the clew with the old front hand and pull the sail back violently past your ear while tightening the carve through back foot pressure.

As the board carves round the sail will come up ready to be caught with hands in the sailing position. Don't sheet in.

Carve the board hard through the remainder of the term, staying low and not sheeting in.

As the board comes round ensure the body weight is low as you start to sheet in and apply the power.

Sheet in, staying low.

Continue carving onto the new reach while powering up the sail.

Put your feet back into the straps.
